How does a roof replacement work through Metal Roofing Texas?
It starts with a request: a minute online or a call to the toll-free line. Metal Roofing Texas assigns a certified Interlock installer for your area, who visits, measures the roof, looks at the deck and framing where they can, goes through profiles and colors with you, and gives you a written proposal under their own business name. Anything that needs attention underneath belongs in that proposal, not in a change order later.
On install day the Interlock® aluminum system goes on: panels that lock to each other on all four sides with the fasteners concealed, so there is no exposed screw head or loose edge for wind and driven rain to work on. The Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty, issued by Interlock Roofing, covers the material and finish.
Tear-off or roof-over?
Cedar shingles and shakes, concrete or clay tile and natural slate always come off. A single layer of asphalt shingles can be roofed over only after inspection, where the deck is sound and local code permits: no rot, no soft decking, nothing trapped underneath that should come out. If it isn't suitable, the tear-off is in the written proposal from the start.
What can replace asphalt, cedar or tile?
Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake and Mediterranean Tile, all aluminum, at about 0.41 to 0.59 lb per square foot installed depending on profile (ICC-ES ESR-1790), a fraction of the weight of slate or concrete tile. Every profile needs a minimum 3/12 roof slope.
This site offers one roofing system. If you're comparing it with an asphalt re-roof, you're comparing a roof you'll replace again with one built not to need it.
Built for Texas weather
Hail is the first test: Texas had 902 major hail events in 2025, the most of any state (NOAA, via the Insurance Information Institute), and the Interlock® profiles carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, verified by Intertek for Delta Building Products. Sun, wind and, on the coast, salt air are the rest.
Aluminum has no granules to lose and no steel to rust, the panels lock on four sides, and wind resistance is warranted to 120 mph when installed to manufacturer specification. In the 14 first-tier coastal counties and part of Harris County, TWIA windstorm coverage requires a certificate of compliance (WPI-8) from the Texas Department of Insurance's windstorm inspection program for roof work done since January 1, 1988, so the installer confirms what applies at your address before anything is signed.
Texas rules worth knowing before you sign
No state license: Texas does not license roofing contractors, so ask for a certificate of insurance, the contractor's registration with your city where it requires one, and references.
Your deductible: a contractor may not pay, waive or absorb your insurance deductible, rebate it, or otherwise help you avoid paying it, and a contract expected to be paid from a property insurance claim must say so in bold type (Business & Commerce Code § 27.02).
Your claim: a contractor may not act as a public adjuster or advertise to adjust claims for a property they work on or may work on (Insurance Code § 4102.163). Metal Roofing Texas plays no part in insurance claims; coverage questions are between you and your carrier.
What does the warranty cover, in plain language?
The Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty, issued by Interlock Roofing, covers material and finish for the original homeowner while they own the home, and transfers once: the second owner is covered to 50 years from substantial completion. Workmanship is excluded from it; the assigned installer gives their own workmanship terms in writing. Ice damming is a stated exclusion. Read the full terms before you sign.
Wind resistance is warranted to 120 mph when installed to manufacturer specification.

Questions, answered
How long does a roof replacement take?
It depends on the size and complexity of the roof and what is underneath. The assigned installer gives you an estimated install window in the written proposal, before you sign.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Texas?
It depends on your city. Dallas, for example, requires a re-roof permit when a large area or the whole roof is replaced, and takes permit applications from registered contractors. The assigned installer checks what your city requires and pulls any permit needed.
Can a metal roof go over my shingles?
Sometimes, only after inspection: a single layer of asphalt can be roofed over where the deck is sound and local code permits. Cedar, concrete or clay tile and natural slate always come off.
Where is roof replacement available in Texas?
All of Texas: Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, the Gulf Coast, the Rio Grande Valley, West Texas and the Panhandle. Request a quote or call the toll-free line and a certified installer for your area is assigned.
